Today’s Giants

7 09 2010

[Satan] stabs me, making breach after breach and attacking again and again; he runs at me like a giant… (Job 16:14 AMP)

Some people don’t believe in giants. They believe if they live holy, faith-filled lives in Christ Jesus that giants don’t really exist for them today. But that doesn’t make them any less real, though. In fact, throughout the generations our Father’s never-failing Word has instructed His people concerning giants, carefully explaining how they were born when the fallen sons of God (angels) lived with the daughters of man (Genesis 6:4), and that He raised up several men to wipe them out: Moses (Joshua 13:12), David (1 Samuel 17 and 2 Samuel 21:22), Sibbecai (2 Samuel 21:18), and Elhanan (2 Samuel 21:19). And since there is no further mention of giants in the writings of the New Testament, I think we can safely conclude that these men of God were successful in their assignment of annihilating the physical giants of the past.

However, to fully understand the enemy we face today, it’s vital we remember that all those giants of yesterday were born of rebellious fallen angels – meaning they were born of Satan. Therefore, when those men of God destroyed their giant fleshly bodies thousands of years ago, their spirits returned to Satan just as our spirits, being born of God, return to God. And just as we DO still exist in the spiritual realm once we die, so do they—it’s these spiritual forces that are the giants we face today. Surely, then, the devil’s purpose for these evil spirits remains the same now as when they dwelt in fleshly bodies in days of old: to make the battle (problem) look too big and God’s Word (promises) in us look too small. (Numbers 13:33; Deuteronomy 1:28; 1 Samuel 17:4; 2 Samuel 21:20; 1 Chronicles 20:6)

If any of us are facing spiritual giants today, we can be sure Satan commanded them to rise against us because we’re doing something that threatens his kingdom—nothing more, nothing less. So let us never run in fear of giants but, instead, begin thanking God for allowing us to discern their presence. For their interference in any situation is actually proof (or, an indicator) that we must be heading on the right path after all, which leads to fulfilling God’s good plan for our lives, in Jesus’ name!

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12 NKJV)

Only those who refuse to be intimidated and face the so called Giants will cross over to their Promise Land – Canaan.

Its your Turn for a Change of Story.
