The Fear of the Lord

10 02 2011

In our Bible Word of God series today, we’ll be talking about the fear of the lord. What is the fear of the Lord? We will be taking our motivation from the King Solomon. Solomon said the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and we stand to agree with him. If you check through scriptures, you’ll see that those who make great mark have one thing in common “for I feared the lord” Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and many more.

No wonder these men walked in a great level of wisdom why? “Wisdom is the principal thing;” – Pro 4:7

How do you acquire wisdom then? “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it”. Pro 9:10 – 12.

The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom. No wisdom, no success – No fear of the Lord, no wisdom.

When you fear the lord, he reveals things out of the ordinary to you and when that is in place, you are called a man of wisdom. Joseph operated in a high level of wisdom. He did not only interpret pharaoh’s dream but gave him suggestion that saved a whole nation.

Solomon remained the wisest man only when he walked in the fear of the lord. Once he moved away from fearing God and embracing foreign women, his wisdom became stale? – Then he began to say “Vanity upon vanity”

Go get wisdom – the fear of the lord is The beginning of wisdom.
